Joseph BrunsmanVP & CCO at Chesapeake Professional Liability Brokers
Joseph E. Brunsman – Joe is an avid truth hunter, frequent public speaker, and an author. He began his life by skipping school and hanging out in the library, where he read every technology related book he could find. This inevitably led him to military school where he served the remainder of his high school sentence dodging alien hunters at New Mexico Military Institute in Roswell, New Mexico. Upon graduation he enlisted in the Navy; serving three years as an IT where he focused on database management, network security, radio communications, and satellite communications. While a Midshipman at the United States Naval Academy he majored in Systems Engineering (Robotics) where he won the senior design award for creating a semi-autonomous beer launching fridge. That fridge is still used today to lure unsuspecting freshman into taking 20 credit hours a semester for the next 3 ½ years. As a Naval Officer, he served as a Surface Warfare Officer where he held positions ranging from Electronic Warfare Officer to Anti-Terrorism Force Protection Officer.
After visiting 30 countries, he left the service for the greener pastures of insurance life. Within the first eight months of his new job, he defaulted into becoming a best-selling author by co-authoring the first book ever published on the topic of insurance for accounting firms. This has been followed up by numerous publications in magazines such as Journal of Accountancy, The CPA Journal, and CPA Practice Advisor. Topics have ranged from what a declassified CIA study can teach your firm about hiring more women, to how to scientifically hire the hardest working person who was born to be an accountant. Upcoming articles include the insurance pitfalls of rendering services to marijuana related clients and hidden federal cyber requirements for accounting firm.
He is the Vice-President of Chesapeake Professional Liability Brokers in Annapolis, MD. In his free time, he can be found researching new articles for publication, pursuing a Master of Law in Cybersecurity Law at the King Carey School of Law, or playing with his two-year old son, and infinitely patient wife.
